Comedians and Formula 1 experts will take part in various events at the Edinburgh Food and Drink Academy (EFDA) in August, as well as whisky and food pairing events.
Aston Martin F1’s former head of race strategy and current Sky Sports analyst Bernie Collins will be joined by Ryan McGarva, former Mercedes-AMG Petronas pit crew member and mechanic to seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton for a conversation on the behind the scenes of Formula 1.
Collins is often heard giving insight on the technical and engineering perspective of the sport to the broadcaster’s commentary team.
The event on 15 August will also provide an additional “cook and dine” session for 14 ticket holders alongside professional chefs.
Also taking place at the EFDA in August is a “Comedy Cook Off” in partnership with the Stand Comedy Club.
Throughout the month, comedians will challenge each other to cook dishes live in the EFDA Demonstration Kitchen if front of audience members, who will then get to sample the finished dishes and vote on the best one.
The event will be hosted by Bruce Devlin, the resident host of the Stand.
Several strictly culinary events will also be taking place, with a whisky and food pairing session hosted by whisky consultant Annabel Meikle.
Over the course of the three events, Meikle will lead guests through a nosing and tasting of three whiskies from Wemyss Malts, which be paired with charcuterie and artisan chocolate.
These will take place on 24 July, 14 August and 27 August.
Other events include a Gardener and Chef series with the Royal Botanic Garden, a shortbread workshop, and various cooking courses organised by the EFDA.
