Livingston lost 2-1 at home to Partick Thistle in the William Hill Championship but interim head coach, David Martindale, said it was difficult to go into the dressing-room and “batter” the players.
He argued that there was a lot right in the game and but his men required to be a “wee bit more clinical” in the final third and better defensively.
The Lions conceded after 17 minutes, Reading netting after a pass from Drozd, but van Hoeven levelled a minute before the break, Wilkie setting-up the strike.
However, Watt scored the game-winner after 62 minutes after being set up by Reading to stun home fans in the 2,339 crowd.
The home side had 52 per cent of possession, according to BBC Sports Scotland, but it was The Jags who outshot Livi, firing 12 against eight.
Six of their shots were on target against one by the home combine who are in fourth spot in the ten-strong table with 13 points from ten fixtures.
Thistle are third, five points ahead of the men from the Home of the Set Fare, and they have played a game less.
Both are trying to catch second-placed Raith Rovers who have 20 points from ten games and pace-setting Stenhousemuir who are on 22 points from nine starts. They lost 2-0 at Inverness Caley Thistle to end their unbeaten run while Raith beat Queen’s Park 2-0 at Kirkcaldy.
