Edinburgh Rays are hosting their inaugural baseball tournament at Morgan Playing Fields, Prestonfield, on Saturday and Sunday.
Taking part will be teams from both Scotland and England while the event concludes with a “Home Run Derby” in which four “sluggers” from each side will try to secure as many 10 point home runs as possible.
Club official Luke Rajczuk says: “The tournament will bring together six clubs from Scotland and England for a weekend celebrating the growth of baseball, community sport and family entertainment in the city. With games starting at 10 am on both Saturday and Sunday, free entry, a summer BBQ, batting experiences and a Home Run Derby finale, we’re hoping it will be a great event for local families and sports fans.
As baseball continues to grow in Edinburgh this grassroots event is about volunteers, community engagement and creating new opportunities for people to get involved.”
Schedule: Saturday – 10am – Glasgow v Edinburgh; 11.50 – Tayport v Manchester; 1.40 – Glasgow v Newcastle; 3.30 – Tayport v Edinburgh.
Sunday – 10am – Edinburgh v Newcastle; 11.50 – Manchester v Edinburgh; 1.40 – Final. 4.0 – Home Run Derby
