A new sports store will open this summer in Livingston at The Centre.

JD Sports claims the moniker King of Trainers and will sell footwear and athleisure from its largest store in Scotland at The Centre, Livingston. The store extends to a space of 15,500 square feet.

The retailer has more 350 stores across the UK, and is moving from a 9,500 sq. ft store in the centre – one of the largest shopping centres in the country – to the larger store.

The Centre which has 150 places to shop and eat, and is visited by more than 15.8million visitors a year, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

Shops already in place include Flannels, H&M, Rituals, Hotel Chocolat, M&S and schuh, Las Iguanas, Nando’s, wagamama and Five Guys.

The original store opened in 2008 and due to increased customer demand, the company is upsizing and relocating closer to the main entrance, with an expected opening date in July and a celebratory launch with a host of competitions and a DJ to mark the opening. The current store will trade as normal until the new opening of their larger premises.

There are also shops run by Starbucks, Wingstop, MINISO, Søstrene Grene, Flying Tiger and the first ArrowHeadz store in Scotland.
The countdown is on for the expansion into the leisure sector with the opening of Hollywood Bowl later this year, featuring 22 lanes, an arcade and a bar and diner.

Simon Eatough, Director at LCP, part of M Core and Asset Manager to The Centre, Livingston said: “This is an exciting year for us as we look forward to brands like JD Sports upsizing and relocating and our move into leisure with the opening of Hollywood Bowl.

“Since we acquired the shopping centre over two years ago, our mission, which continues today, is to attract a broad range of new global brands to ensure all our visitors have a great choice of places to shop and dine out.”

Patrick Robbertze, Centre Director at The Centre, Livingston said: “The anticipation and excitement around the opening of our new, larger JD Sports store has been building for months and now the final countdown is officially on.

“The new larger store will continue to enhance our overall retail offering at The Centre, Livingston, even more, and is guaranteed to be a big hit with our shoppers.”
