Three anglers each had three fish in round six of the Bass Rock Shore Angling League at weed-filled Belhaven Beach.
Dunbar-based angler, Dave Ellis, won the event, but only just, from teenager Niko Millar.
Ellis totalled 90 centimeters while young Millar (North Berwick) was only two centimeters behind in second. His bag included a 36cm turbot, a fine fish.
Stuart Fairbairn from Haddington was third, also with three fish, but they only measured 61cm.
All anglers were caught up in weed during the first 90 minutes of the three-hour match, making it almost impossible to fish, but it disappeared suddenly and that’s when they all hooked into fish.
Fourth was James Ogilvie (Haddington) with two fish for 60cm and fifth Allan Brown (West Barns) who was only two centimeters behind with his two fish. He hooked into the longest fish at 37cm..
Jimmy Green (Musselburgh) was sixth with two fish for 55cm.
Thin strips of mackerel proved the best bait on the night and anglers did not have to cast far to get into fish.
The weather was good and the air temperature was favourable with several anglers fishing in their T-shirts. There was a small swell.
Round seven will be on Wednesday, July 8 at a venue to be decided.
