Pride Edinburgh celebrations are due to take place on Saturday, with singer Cher Lloyd headlining the event.

Present in numerous cities across the world, pride events celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) social and self-acceptance, achievements, legal rights, and pride.

The city’s Pride event first began in 1994.

Events will kick off with a march through Edinburgh, beginning at the Scottish Parliament at 12:15pm and ending at Bristo Square at 1pm.

There will also be a “cheer station” viewing spot for the march by St Giles Cathedral.

Those who are unable to complete the full march route will be able to use Pride Edinburgh’s Access Bus, with spaces reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.

From 2pm, Teviot Row House and Potterrow Dome will host the Festival Village, with the former holding a community fair, community stage, a queer creatives market, as well as a trans and non-binary space. A queer creatives market will be held in Potterrow Dome.

Main stage acts will also commence at 2pm from Bristo Square, which will include DJ, drag shows, and musical performances.

Among the acts is Lady Gaga impersonator, Donna Marie Gaga.

Singer Cher Lloyd will headline the event, with other main stage acts including Galiverse, Blaze, Frankie Lily, Michelle McManus, Bryn Christopher, Kelli-Leigh, and Kay-Lo.

Pride Edinburgh is sponsored by Lidl, Heineken, Starbucks, Next, the Johnnie Walker Experience, and Lumo.
