Edinburgh Monarchs’ team manager, Alex Harkess, believes his squad can open their Cab Direct Championship campaign with a win despite the loss of No 1 Dan Thompson.
In-form Thompson suffered a broken collar bone riding for his Premiership team Leicester Lions on Monday and will be replaced by Berwick’s Nick Morris.
Workington Comets are the visitors to Armadale (tapes-up 7.30pm) and all clubs are targeting a top four spot to qualify for the play-offs.
The visitors also have injury worried. Ex-Monarchs rider, Craig Cook, has missed the last two matches due to a collar bone injury and Comets have replacement reserves.
Vinnie Foord is injured and Max Perry is away at an FIM event, however, their recently-signed Danish racer, Niklas Holm Jakobsen, is fit after injury.
Harkess (pictured right with Glasgow team manager, Cami Brown, picture by Nigel Duncan) said: “It is a huge blow to lose Dan, but Nick is as good a guest as we could have. Workington have a strong top four in theory but it’s not as strong as our top five, which I think is as good as any in the league. If they perform at home as they did last Friday then that will be fine.”
