Glasgow Tigers team manager, Cami Brown, paid tribute to his red-hot reserves for the vital 49-41 home win over Plymouth Gadiators in the Cab Direct Championship.
The Allied Vehicles Tigers were back to winning ways thanks to outstanding performances from Sam Hagon with paid 11 and Freddy Hodder with paid seven.
Brown said: “It was Sam and Freddy who won us the meeting, they came up with the key moments and I’m delighted for them because they’ve come in for some stick so far this season.
“It has been tough for them at times, but they have shown the right attitude, worked really hard and put in the hours of practice behind the scenes to get it right.”
Brown added: “Plymouth are a very good team, especially at Ashfield. It was tight early on but Sam and Freddy came up with the big rides and it was good to get the right reaction from the boys.
“The top five were solid. Mario (Hausl) needs to improve early in the meeting. He popped out for a big 5-1 in Heat 10. I wanted to see some real fight and some guts and the team delivered in every way.”
Plymouth visited Ashfield two weeks ago and dumped Tigers out of the KO Cup so Brown knew they would be dangerous, but Brown added: “I was delighted with the attitude. The boys were motivated to get it right for the fans, and that’s the most important thing for me.
“There is still a lot of hard work to be done. We still have to improve and look more formidable, but there are signs that is coming.
“The big meetings are coming thick and fast with Workington next here at Ashfield. So I still need more from all the boys if we are to challenge for the play-offs.”
