Lochend Football Academy will have celebrity support when their under-14 and under-16 teams contest their respective Scottish Cup finals at Broadwood Stadium, Cumbernauld, on 26 April.
The under-14s will play Giffnock and the under-16s take on Kilwinning Rangers.
One of the smallest clubs in the city Lochend will have in their corner one of their ex-players, Jamie Sives, now a noted actor with roles in the likes of Game of Thrones and Chernobyl.
Lochend born Jamie has agreed to become a club ambassador.
Jamie and Ian Fergus, who spearheads the Lochend club with co – founder Jimmy Urquhart, both went to Craigentinny Primary School together and kicked a footballs about as kids at the Hawkhill pitch and around the Lochend and Craigentinny housing estates.
Jamie also played for Lochend Youth BC as a youngster along with many others still living in and around the area in the 80s.
Ian was absolutely delighted Jamie wanted to support the club and its endeavours to provide a pathway and a place for young kids to enjoy their football.
Ian said: “I’m certainly passionate about Lochend and our football club and Jamie shares that passion and is a huge Lochend success story with his successful acting career.
“We are very proud of our own, and Jamie is certainly that.”.
