Hibs European hopes suffered a setback after dropping two-points against Livingston at Easter Road this afternoon as fourth place Motherwell lost at Celtic Park.

David Gray made one change to the starting XI that drew with dundee two weeks ago.

Ante Suto took over from on-loan Tottenham Hotspur striker Dane Scarlett with Chris Cadden returning from injury to take a seat on the bench.

Marvin Bartley made five changes. Cristian Montano, Joel Nouble, Stevie May, Cammy Kerr and Mo Sylla replaced Emmanuel Danso, Robbie Muirhead, Lewis Smith, Babacar Fati and Ryan McGowan,

The visitors created the first chance when a fierce shot from Stevie May was awkwardly parried away by goalkeeper Raphael Sallinger.

At the other end Nicky Cadden tested the Livingston keeper with an angled drive.

Suto then managed to hook an effort on target which was easily saved by Jerome Prior at his front post.

Jamie McGrath went close with an effort which crashed against the crossbar before the same player missed a great chance with a glancing header,

Moments later, Warren O’Hora nodded just over from a Nicky Cadden free-kick.

Felix Passlack set up McGrath and his effort almost squirmed underneath Prior but the goalkeeper just managed to prevent the ball from crossing the line.

Just before the break striker Joel Nouble tried his luck from distance forcing a diving save from Sallinger.

Hibs: Sallinger, O’Hora, Bushiri, Iredale, Passlack, Chaiwa, Barlaser, McGrath, N Cadden, Suto, Elding.

Shortly after the restart McGrath hit the post from 15-yards.

On the hour mark Martin Boyle and Dane Scarlett replaced Jack Iredale and Suto.

Livingston introduce Babacar Fati and Barrie McKay in place of Cristian Montano and Stevie May.

Then moments later Robbie Muirhead took over from Joel Nouble.

In the 77th minute midfield pair Josh Campbell and Kai Andrews replaced Elding and Miguel Chaiwa .

As Hibs pressed for a winner Passlack curled in a superb cross which just evaded Boyle then Campbell had a great chance but fired over from close range under pressure from the Livi keeper.

In the 89th minute Boyle broke clear and went down inside the box under a challenge from Mo Sylla. The referee pointed to the spot but changed his mind after consulting the VAR monitor.

Boyle then set up Scarlett but the keeper was too quick and got to the ball first.

The Hibs fans made their displeasure known at the final whistle.
