On Sunday, 18 January 2026, police officers in East Lothian and the Scottish Borders undertook a day of action to help in tackling rural and wildlife crime.
Officers and Special Constables from across the division spoke with famers, landowners, and other member of rural communities.
Security advice was given and a number of incidents reported to police.
These included incidents of hare coursing in East Lothian and the use of illegal off-road motorbikes in the Scottish Borders. Enquiries continue into these incidents and positive lines of enquiry are being pursued.
PC Ali Whitby, Divisional Wildlife Crime Coordinator, said: “Preventing, reducing, and tackling rural crime is a priority for Police Scotland”. “If you have any information relating to wildlife crime in your area, or witness anything suspicious on farmland, please contact us.”
