Each week The City of Edinburgh Council’s travel team publishes a list of the city streets where roadworks are planned.

The measures listed include road closures or diversions for traffic in Edinburgh due to utility providers dealing with emergency or planned works, as well as any resurfacing which is to be undertaken.

The UK Transport Minister, Heidi Alexander, MP, has announced a new map for roads in England showing how local authorities are dealing with potholes. The map shows the road condition, how much is being spent and also assesses whether the local authority is following best practice in maintaining the roads. There is nothing comparable, as far as we know, planned for Scotland, except that you can report problems on the roads and pavements to Edinburgh Council here.

If you see anything on the roads which is not on the list then let the travel team know on Twitter @EdinTravel or otherwise you can check on the Scottish Roadworks register which is a comprehensive list of places to avoid.

Updated versions of the listings are posted to the website most weekday afternoons, these can be found by going to https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/edintravel

Any new works or events are marked in blue.
