Speaking ahead of this weekend’s game against Motherwell Hibs head coach David Gray said that “The opportunity and the incentive are clearly there for the players”
Hibs know three points on Saturday will see them leapfrog Motherwell in the William Hill Premiership table, and continue their positive run of form during the winter period.
Gray has now admitted how positive the mood has been at Hibs Training Centre.
“It’s been a positive week; the players are feeling good about themselves because of their form at the minute and they’re looking forward to what lies ahead.
“On Saturday we have a brilliant opportunity to play against the team directly in front of us, and we have an opportunity to catch them in front of a sell-out crowd at Easter Road at the weekend.
“It’s got all the makings of a brilliant game and it’s one that we’re looking forward too.”
Hibs were comfortably beaten by Motherwell earlier this season, and Gray has urged his players to show a true version of themselves on Saturday.
“Everything that could’ve gone wrong in the first half of that game, or even in a 15 minute spell, went wrong; it was really unlike us. I was very clear to the players about that when speaking ahead of this one.
“We have to approach the game in the way we want to play the game. We know if we do things properly, we’re a very good side.
“On that night we were too slow and too passive, which is very unlike us, so we need to make sure we remember why we’ve been successful and what good looks like. I want to see that from the players; we’ve worked on it this week, we’ve spoken about it this week.
“This game has all the makings of a brilliant game. The opportunity and the incentives are clearly there for the players.”
