Cammy Devlin could be missing for up to eight weeks after being injured in the dying minutes of Wednesday’s 2-0 home victory in the William Hill Premiership over St Mirren.
The 27-year-old Aussie international, who has impressed this season, had a scan and a lower leg injury was found. It has not been disclosed.
Recent statistics show that Devlin (pictured against Hibs) has made 98 tackles for the Men in Maroon this term, nearly 50 more than any other player in the Premiership.
Beni Beningime is suspended for the William Hill Premiership clash with defending champions Celtic at Tynecastle on Sunday, January 25 (15.00) which is the Jambos next league game.
That means Derek McInnes, Hearts’ head coach, will be minus two influential players for the key match against Martin O’Neill’s men, a big blow.
His absence is a significant blow to pace-setting Hearts at a crucial time in the season.
Meanwhile, midfielder Sander Kartum has joined A-League side Weillington Phoenix on loan, the Norwegian moving to New Zealand until June.
The 30-year-old arrived at Tynecastle 12 months ago and made 17 appearances, scoring two goals.
