Logan Neilson will be picked up en route to Fife Flyers’ Elite League clash in Surrey and the 22-year-old will ice despite not having trained with the Fife club.
Neilson, who father is Corey Neilson, coach to Glasgow Clan, has seen his career stall at the Elite League pace-setters, Sheffield Steelers.
The Great Britain international has also played 95 games for Nottingham Panthers, scoring 12 goals and assisting in 18 other strikes over two seasons, and he is a welcome addition to the Fife roster.
Keaton Jamieson, who netted the game-winner against Cardiff Devils last Sunday only 26sec into sudden death overtime for a 3-2 success, is ruled out of the Guildford clash but Vlastimil Dostalek and Mason Alderson come back in.
Jamie Russell, Fife’s head coach, said back-to-back wins last weekend were an undoubted confidence boost for the squad and the results also went a long way to assisting with the frustration caused by playing well in games and not getting results.
He added: “They were two big wins and it was a terrific weekend.”
Swedish forward Anton Karlsson made his debut and scored Flyers’ fourth after 43min 26sec in Manchester and Russell said: “ had a terrific weekend and has fitted in really well. He is a great addition for us.
“Logan joins has this weekend and things were not working out for him in Sheffield. I believe he will improve the group going forward.”
Neilson (pictured courtesy of Elite League) has iced with Alderson for Great Britain and has international experience and Russell added: “He is 6ft 5in and good offensively.”
That’s a commodity which Fife need as they bid to climb off the bottom of the ten-strong Elite League table.
