The wellbeing charity Fischy Music are inviting more than 20,000 primary school children from all over the country to join them for the Big Sing at the end of this month.
Children have learned the words and music of We’re the Land of Scots, a new children’s anthem composed by the charity. It aims to show that everyone in Scotland can help each other and celebrate belonging together.
The Big Sing is a free event which will take place on 28 November at 11am, and is an online concert led by Fischy Music as part of the St Andrew’s Day celebrations.
A ceilidh dancing video has already been filmed and edited and will have its premiere at Broughton High School on 27 November.
Stephen Fischbacher MBE, Founder and Ambassador of Fischy Music, said: “Children have been asking us for years to ‘write a song about being Scottish’. So, we did. We drew on Scotland’s unique sense of humour alongside the values of the Curriculum for Excellence. School assembly halls have been buzzing as we’ve road- tested “We’re the Land of Scots” across the country this year, and now it’s ready to go.”
The charity hopes that the anthem will become a lasting tune for all children in the country.
A P7 pupil from Longniddry Primary School said: “Scotland’s a home for everyone.”
