Uniformed police officers will be out on foot patrol in the city centre this evening as part of Operation Verbeia.
Anti-social behaviour and associated crime will be targeted.
Officers will be working closely with retailers and the public and supporting the city centre community team to prevent disorder and provide reassurance to the public.
A police spokesperson said: “Edinburgh city centre is a great place to visit. But let’s do it responsibly.”
