Hibs midfielder Josh Mulligan praised his teammates’ mentality after Hibs 2-1 victory over Aberdeen at Pittodrie yesterday.

The Hibs players battled all over the pitch and put in an excellent away performance in the Granite City to come away with the victory.

When speaking after the game, the summer signing said: “The boys showed real desire in the first half, and we went 1-0 up.

“I think we came off it a little bit in the second half, which gave them a bit of momentum, but the way we defended was outstanding. The subs came on, and then Elie got the goal and that put the game to rest.

“We missed a few chances in the game, but we know if we defend properly first, we give ourselves the best chance to get a result. I thought defensively today we were really good. I think the boys showed that desire to get the three points.

“We’ve kept our momentum going after the good win against Livingston. It’s hard to win football matches, but doing that puts you in good stead.”

Around 1,500 Hibs fans travelled north to support David Gray’s men, and they were vocal throughout. Mulligan reserved special praise for them.

“The Hibs fans were brilliant, absolutely brilliant. I’m happy to get the three points for them today.

“You could see at the end how happy they were, and Elie doing his little bit with them too. I’m really happy.”
