Police officers who discovered a large fire on Loganlea Terrace yesterday afternoon were responding to a report of men seen in possession of firearms.
Following their enquiries no weapons were found however two men aged 22 and 29 were arrested in connection with drug offences.
Enquiries into the blaze are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.30pm on Thursday, 7 August, 2025, we received a report of men seen in possession of what appeared to be a firearm on Loganlea Terrace, Edinburgh.
“Following further enquiries two men aged 22 and 29 were arrested in connection with drug offences and enquiries are ongoing. No weapons were recovered.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the fire.”
A SFRS spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 6.14pm on Thursday, 7 August, to assist emergency service partners at an incident on Loganlea Terrace, Edinburgh.
“Operations Control have mobilised seven fire appliances and a number of other resources to the scene where a fire is affecting a three-storey property. Crews remain at the scene.”
