Jack Iredale is looking forward to playing in front of a sell-out crowd under the Easter Road lights tonight in Hibs crucial UEFA Europa League qualifier against FC Midtjylland.
The players will be backed by over 18,500 home supporters in what will be the largest home support inside Easter Road since the Stadium was redeveloped in the 1990s.
The match is finely poised – after the teams played out a tense 1-1 draw in Denmark a week ago.
Speaking to the media ahead of the match, the popular defender said: “I am really excited, even during the warm-up in Denmark – me and a couple of the boys were talking about how good we felt because of the loud support we had.
“That was just 1,000 fans in the corner of the Stadium, so I cannot wait to see Easter Road tomorrow packed full of Hibs supporters and the noise they can generate for us.
“I am still not sure the fans understand how much they can help us, whether it is in preparation during the warm-ups or whether it is in certain stages in the game when we need that extra boost.
“The away fans were incredible, and I am really excited to see the Stadium tomorrow and hopefully we can deliver another performance for them.”
Jamie McGrath opened the scoring for Hibs in Herning, before the side was pegged back in the second half.
The Danish side dominated the ball, but Hibs defended our box well, and Iredale insists the players can take a lot of confidence and momentum from the performance.
“We got a really positive result, we are under no illusions as to what was going to be expected from us and to a man we all delivered last week.
“But, we know that was only half a job done – and we know how big an evening this is going to be for us on Thursday.
“We need to find a winner from somewhere, but we have quality in so many different areas of the pitch, so I am full of confidence in the boys. I don’t think they threw anything at us that we didn’t expect. We can take confidence from our performance – but we know we can get better as well.
“There is always room for improvement, we have been working on that this week. In terms of what we found out about them, we know they have quality all over the pitch, and we know we need to be at our best to deal with them.”
