On the 135th anniversary of the death of Vincent van Gogh, the cast of Vagabond Skies – The Van Gogh Musical could be found in the sunflower fields of The Balgone Estate at North Berwick.

Vincent’s obsession resulted in at least 11 paintings and his automatic association with sunflowers globally.

This new British musical, showing at the Gilded Balloon at the Museum this Fringe season, delivers an emotional rollercoaster that was his troubled life.

“Gut-wrenching and uplifting in equal measure, this extraordinary must-see production depicts Vincent’s later years. Emotive songs and vivid artwork portray resilience despite a life consumed by mental turmoil and failed relationships. As a sung through biographical musical, compelling musical performances and poignant lyrics, interlinked by the actual letters exchanged between two brothers, bring the stage alive. Going under the skin of Van Gogh’s tragic life as he struggles with personal challenges and unappreciated art, this inspirational new musical stays with the audience long after the final curtain.”

Vagabond Skies – The Van Gogh Musical premieres at Gilded Balloon at the Museum
Thursday 30 July to Thursday 21 August; daily at 9pm (not 11 or 18 August).
