Scotland Women’s National Team will host Finland at Easter Road in the first leg of their European Championships play-off final.

Pedro Martinez Losa’s side will make their bid for a spot at the tournament finals in Switzerland next summer after an outstanding qualifying campaign.

Scotland dispatched of Hungary in the last round of qualifiers in decisive fashion with a 5-0 aggregate scoreline. An unbeaten run in the summer group stages also means Scotland go into the double-header against the Finns undefeated in eight.

Tonight’s opponents also secured their place in the play-off finals in emphatic fashion with a 6-0 aggregate win over Montenegro. However, they faced a tougher run in the group stages with only one victory in six games.

The two sides met earlier this year in the Pinatar Cup final. The international friendly couldn’t be decided in regulation time and the Finnish went on to win on penalties. In 2023, Scotland travelled to Tampere and secured a 2-1 win over Finland with goals from Caroline Weir and Emma Watson.

Scotland Head Coach, Pedro Martinez Losa: “We have a great team and that gives me confidence as much as I respect Finland, but I feel we are in the best position we could be to face this challenge.

“We have players with plenty of experience of being involved in Champions League and finals, playing in major tournaments, I have been exposed to these scenarios.

“Preparation provides you confidence and what they have done provides confidence. We are in a very good place, but I think we still have another level.”
