Scotland women were presented with their World Cup shirts during a special reception in Edinburgh before heading to Belgium.

Shirts and caps were awarded, and the staff were also rewarded in an emotional ceremony in Italian restaurant, Vittoria on the Bridge.

Family and friends were given the honour of presenting the girls with their kit and they head over to Belgium later this month to meet Argentina, England and USA and the qualifiers.

It is a daunting task against the South Americans, ranked No 2 in the world, Germany, three places below, and the USA, No 11 in the ratings, but Scotland have prepared well.

They face South Africa in their final game on Scottish soil on Tuesday (7.,30) and tickets are still available, before they travel to Belgium.

The squad were there recently experiencing the venue and playing Belgium on two challenge matches. They acquitted themselves well against a side rated No 3 in the world.

Scotland captain Sarah Robertson, an Olympic bronze medallist, urged the girls to enjoy the World Cup experience and the former University of Edinburgh player said the squad has a lot of fun on tour.

She stressed that they travel to meet some of the best teams in the world, but added: “We are going to represent our country, and we are going to show what Scottish Hockey is all about.”
