The Scottish Green Party candidate for the general election will take to the stage at a festival on the Portobello promenade on Saturday 22 June.

The Sea Rising Festival is organised by Porty Community Energy. It will include free music, a ceilidh, a maker’s markets, stalls, free bike trials and arts and crafts workshops.

Amanda Grimm, the Scottish Greens candidate for Edinburgh East and Musselburgh, will speak briefly about her campaign, before introducing Joanie and the Water, a singer-songwriter and a band of local musicians from the Portobello Tap weekly trad and folk session.

Ms Grimm said: “I’m delighted to be taking part in the Sea Rising Festival, which aims to highlight the impact of rising seas on coastal communities like Portobello and Musselburgh.

“It’s important that communities have spaces and opportunities like this to talk about climate change and how it can be tackled at the local and national level.

“Porty Community Energy are a brilliant group, and I know they will create a fun, family-friendly experience for everyone to enjoy on the day, celebrating community achievements and looking with hope to the future.”
