BSN Series: Glasgow Tigers 50, Berwick Bandits 40. Glasgow take the bonus point 92-88 on aggregate.

Former Berwick Bandit Claus Vissing top scored with 13 points to consign his former club to their first defeat of the season and leaving their hopes of BSN Series qualification in the balance.

Vissing proved an effective stand-in for Glasgow Tigers’ winter signing Leon Flint who is in Pardubice for the European Team Under-23 Championship.

Vissing, along with another former Berwick racer, Chris Harris and ex-Edinbuirgh Monarchs rider Steve Worrall, provided nine of the race winners.

Drew Kemp (pictured by Taz McDougall and courtesy of Berwick Jewson Bandits) enjoyed his best night so far in Berwick colours, but Dane Bastian Borke was still suffering the effects of his crash against Edinburgh.

He added to his growing reputation with a series of dashes from the back as he added eight points to his impressive tally so far this season.

Vissing and another ex-Bandit, Paul Starke hit two 5-1s in the opening six heats as Glasgow opened up an eight-point lead and threatened to run away with the meeting, but Berwick Jewson Bandits dug deep and kept the scoreline difference down to ten on the night.

Berwick must now bounce back earn the three points available in their final BSN Series group match at Edinburgh on Friday.

Stewart Dickson, Berwick’s team manager, said: “It’s disappointing that our winning run has ended but I think we kept our heads down and battled hard even when things weren’t going well for us.

“Drew and Bastian were especially impressive but it now becomes a question of how we respond at Edinburgh next Friday. Qualification is still there for us, as is a shot at the best-runners-up spot. It is still in our hands.”
