Kite flying event in February

The Edinburgh Children’s Festival is organising a kite flying event on Portobello Beach in February in solidarity with the children of Gaza.

In 2011 children in Gaza flew a record 12,350 kites simultaneously on Al-Waha Beach in a symbol of resilience.

Meet on 2 February 2024 on Portobello Beach in front of Straiton Place Park at the foot of Marlborough Street. Bring a kite to fly as a symbol of hope for the future. If you don’t have a kite and need to know how to make one then follow this link here.
