Happy fifth birthday Dhoom.

The award winning Indian Streatery and Bar is celebrating five years of being in business.

Having racked up some of the top industry awards, donated thousands of pounds to various local charities and community groups, and fed hundreds of key workers and disadvantaged people during the pandemic, Dhoom Indian Streatery & Bar has had an eventful first five years.

During this time, the restaurant owner Dhaneswhar Prasad has produced eight different menus covering different and diverse parts of India, from Delhi, to Kolkatta, to Mumba, with tempting and unique street food that is always fresh, colourful and evolving, as well as consistent in terms of taste and quality.

Chef Prasad said: “To celebrate our 5th birthday at Dhoom we did what we do best – welcomed a charity to our colourful restaurant and laid on a fantastic Dhoom street food feast for free.

“We had some young people in from Fife’s Young Carers for lunch. We wanted to support young carers as they can often feel very isolated and miss out on socialising time with their friends. We decided to give them a treat as part of our birthday celebrations and let them know that society really appreciates what they do,” added Prasad.

“Fife Young Carers is actually celebrating 25 years of operation, so well done to them too.”

Giving back is at the heart of Dhoom, which in the past few months, has sponsored a toy appeal, donated £1,500 to Carnegie Dojo, and donated £3,000 to Peacocks In Pittencrieff Park.

Prasad said: “Our Facebook page is currently running a competition which will give a community group the opportunity to win one hundred free Tiffin dishes from our new Tiffin Station menu.

“We’ll always do our best to help community groups.

“The people of Dunfermline have been very good to us, embracing the streetfood concept from the very beginning and making Dhoom the huge success it is five years down the line. We are very grateful indeed.”

He explained that the pandemic had been “a huge bump in the road, but we got through it with the support of our loyal customers”.

He continued:“It was during this time that we really did all we could to feed key workers. We started offering carry out food too so that people could still enjoy a taste of Dhoom.

“2023 has been one of our best years, in terms of major awards we have won, and in terms of being able to help out all the groups that we’ve reached out to. We will continue to do so, whenever we can.

“As regards our recent Kolkatta menu, and the current Mumbai one, both of these have been incredibly popular – we’ve had the most amazing feedback on Mumbai and the Tiffin Station.

“Here’s to another five years of Dhoom – we will do all we can to continue shining the spotlight on the City of Dunfermline’s as a culinary hotspot!”
