It’s been a long, cold winter, and it’s not even over yet. On these long, dreary days, it’s hard not to daydream about springtime, sunny days, and lawns that are more grass and flowers than mud. Wouldn’t it be nice to have sunshine to enjoy? Of course, to enjoy outdoor activities in the comfort of your own yard, you need a yard. And if you want it to be comfortable, you need a finished yard. Let’s take a look at some garden design ideas, and fun outdoor activities to enjoy the sunshine with.

Gorgeous Gardens

The garden party is a firm favourite that always evokes images of pristine green lawns. Garden parties are terrific, not only because they’re a fun way to soak up Vitamin D, but because they’re so versatile. Picture the scene: a perfectly manicured lawn, lush and green with fresh grass. Around the edges, flowerbeds are proudly sprouting daffodils and tulips. The wall at the bottom of the garden supports climbing roses, and the fabled apple tree under which the faeries live is nestled in a corner. In the middle of this storybook garden, wrought iron tables heaped with cucumber sandwiches, salmon and avocado toast, bottles of ginger ale and sparkling lemonade with condensation running down the sides… Of course, to achieve the perfect garden, most of us would need help with landscaping, designing, and planting. But that help is available, and so worth it. You can’t host the perfect garden party birthday, bridal shower, or book club gathering without the ideal garden.

Brilliant Barbecues

If garden parties aren’t your speed, there are other ways to enjoy your garden. What about a barbecue you’d be proud to invite the neighbours to? Instead of the verdant green lawn, you’ve got a tiled patio, with one of those fancy grills that can cook a whole host of things at once. The air is full of the smell of grilled peppers, juicy beef patties, and fat, sizzling sausages. A skillet of onions sits on the hob end of the grill, hissing away. You’ve got a cooler of beer and cider, with a wall-mounted bottle opener for taking the perfect Instagram photos. Instead of springtime bulbs, you’ve got a patch of herbs like sage, rosemary, and basil, bursting with smells and flavours. A bed of wildflowers offers the bees sanctuary. Fruit trees are laden with a promise to border the bottom of the garden. And in the middle of it all, you’re living your best life.

You can’t party in the garden unless you have a garden. And with so many great ways to do it up, why not spend some time on your garden this year?
