Former Hibs’ youngster Tommy Block has joined Woking FC in the Vanarama National League after impressing in pre-season as a trialist.

In July he reached an agreement with the club to depart Easter Road with a year of his contract remaining.

The defensive midfielder had previously been in the Woking FC academy and has now joined the ‘Cards’ as a senior after spells.

He told Woking FC Media: “I really enjoyed it at Hibs, Neil Lennon signed me but unfortunately he left.

“After that another two managers came in but didn’t take my favour and after that nothing really worked in my favour at the club so I thought I would come back to enjoy my football in England again.

“To be fair Queen’s Park as a club were very good to me and looked after my family when they came to see me and I got to play at Hampden as well which was a nice ground to play at although obviously it’s wasn’t full.

“I got some nice messages from some of the Hibs’ fans. I managed to make the bench in a cup game and I was in and around the 19-man squad but obviously they can only take 18 and I missed out but it was still a good opportunity. During the virus the couldn’t afford my accommodation so I came to Woking.

“I want to play at a high standard and this is a very good standard that I haven’t played at before.

“Hopefully I can do well in this league and see what happens.”

Block was a popular player with Hibs and left with the best wishes of everyone at the club and  will always be welcome back in Edinburgh.
