Voters in Craigentinny and Duddingston will have the chance to vote for a new councillor in November.

The former councillor for Craigentinny/ Duddingston, Ian Campbell, resigned due to ill health in February. Since then the by-election scheduled for 21 May 2020 was postponed due to Covid-19.

A new timetable has been drawn up and nominations must be made by 12 October and polling will take place on 12 November.

Returning Officer for Edinburgh Andrew Kerr said: “We are making every effort to ensure safety for those taking part in the Craigentinny and Duddingston by-election during this uncertain time. Our Elections Team are working hard to put in place additional measures to protect all those involved, including voters, candidates and staff at polling places.

“This is an extremely challenging period for the city, and we’ve had to make many changes as we continue to deal with a global pandemic. However, local democracy remains important and I’d like to reassure voters and anyone standing for election as a councillor that the whole process will be carried out safely.”
