Hibs’ new signing Alex Gogic is looking forward to playing in front of a full-house at Easter Road when supporters finally get back inside the stadium.

Whilst Hibs have a reputation for playing free-flowing football, they have often been described over the years as having a soft centre which explains why players such as Matty Jack and Marvin Bartley have been so popular amongst the fans.

Gogic knows what he is good at and is keen to help the club into the top-six after having spent the last four year at Hamilton Academical avoiding relegation.

One player he is hoping to team up with once again is former Hamilton midfielder Greg Docherty who spent the second half of last season at Easter Road after a controversial swap deal with Florian Kamberi.

The Cypriot said: “I know what my job in the team is and I’m happy to do that. I like that role. It lets us be solid as a unit.

“I just get the ball and give it to the strikers, wingers or people in front of me like Scott Allan. And then I just let them do their part.

“I’ve been impressed already with the attacking guys around me. And the pace of them; guys like Martin Boyle. As long as we just stop the goals at the other end, we won’t have any trouble.

“Greg (Docherty) is an amazing player. Playing with him again would be brilliant. He’s strong, a powerful runner, and I enjoyed playing with him when I came to Hamilton.

“I talk to him often and if he does decide to come back, I think that would be great for Hibs.

“We complement each other well in midfield. I don’t run forward as much, but I can cut out the other team’s attacks and give the ball to someone like Greg to use his pace to drive the team forward. That helps.

“Coming to Hibs should help my chances of playing in the Cypriot national team, hopefully

“The size of the club appealed to me first of all. I like the way they play football and how attacking they are. I think me coming in as a defensive central midfielder will hopefully help the team not concede goals and win more games.

“We have to be looking at the top six, but a club like Hibs should be aiming for Europe. I hope we can achieve that target.

“I hope this is the next big step in my development. As a player you want to try to reach the top level. I hope I can really do my best and see what comes. First, I just want to concentrate on playing for Hibs to see what I can do.

“I wanted to stay here because I know the league already and also because Hibs are a big club. Their fans were tweeting me and making me feel wanted. It was an easy decision.

“I’m looking forward to playing in front of noisy crowds and a big atmosphere once again. I grew up with that. When I was at Hamilton you looked forward to playing in stadiums like Easter Road. You came out the tunnel and there was always a buzz and an atmosphere. To play there every other week will be amazing. I can’t wait.”
