The National Library of Scotland (NLS) on George IV Bridge may now be closed but they have lots of online resources you can use.

The NLS put out this statement:

Following advice from the UK and Scottish governments on limiting social contact, we have closed all our buildings to the public – George IV Bridge and Causewayside in Edinburgh, and the National Library at Kelvin Hall in Glasgow – until further notice.

We hope this will contribute to the effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

This of course means that we have cancelled all our planned events for the foreseeable future.

As our Reading Rooms are closed, Library members are now unable to order physical items from Library Search.

However, please remember that we have a wealth of digital resources on our website which you can use for research, learning, entertainment or creative reuse.

We have also extended our Library Chat service hours to 10am–4pm, Monday to Friday. Our librarians are still here to help.

Our next newsletter will highlight a range of material that you can enjoy from home.
