Wind and rain were forecast for today and Edinburgh remains in an area covered by a yellow weather warning according to the Met Office.

Traffic Scotland are keeping drivers up to date with weather information on their Twitter account.

The Forth Road Bridge is closed to high sided vehicles and if you want to check out whether any roads are being gritted keep an eye on the live gritter tracker here. Sir Salter Scott and the Ice Queen are out there working to keep the main trunk roads open.

Scotrail trains have been hit by the weather – literally in the case of a train near Aberdeen which hit a tree on the line. Check your own train journey here.

Edinburgh Trams have curtailed their route by ending at the Gyle Centre due to flooding near the airport. There is ticket acceptance in place on Lothian Buses.

Lothian Buses have no current delays on their routes but worth remembering that there will be roadworks on York Place on Monday and Tuesday nights with diversions on routes 10, 11,12,16,26, and 44. More information here.

Many LNER trains on Sunday were cancelled with a warning from the train company that passengers should not travel then and defer their journey until Monday. The 2.30 from London to Edinburgh is estimated to arrive in Edinburgh at 23.04 due to the high winds. The Sunday night Caledonian Sleeper service has been cancelled and no more trains to and from London are scheduled for Sunday night.

Waverley Station was closed in the afternoon as there were simply too many people on the station concourse. Check for information on your journey here.

The photos show that on Sunday afternoon the Water of Leith walkway was impassable in places due to flooding.

The forecast for Monday and Tuesday does not look too much better with strong winds, unsettled weather and perhaps some snow in the mix later in the week.
