The sofa is beige but John Rowe is anything but – and the Aussie entertainer is bringing his much-loved chat show to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

It promises a hectic evening of groovy live tunes, sing-alongs, daggy dancing, daft chat, surprises and silliness in the company of a lovable host and master of the haphazard. And expect to get involved in the chaos with a lesson from John’s favourite 70s Guide to Disco Dancing book, or an all-in pub-style sing along complete with solo air guitar.

No two nights of the John Rowe Show are ever the same. Even he’s sometimes surprised when the doorbell rings and a showbiz mate drops in for a cuppa.

John says: “This is going to be a hoot! I can’t wait to bring my lounge room full of music, chat and fun to the world’s biggest Fringe festival. I’ve packed in a live band, a cracking line up of cool guests, a box full of silly stuff to play with, my mum’s favourite doilies and a bag full of donuts. I just hope I can fit the sofa in the overhead compartment.”

Stumbling the line between kitsch and cool John loves life’s little oddities.

One minute he’s sharing his excitement about apanpipe album picked up for 50p in a charity shop, next he’s with Stef at the piano making up a spontaneous song from an article in a gossip mag.

Or perhaps he’ll get the audience up on stage to do a live recreation of one of the world’s worst ever album covers.

And there’ll be loads of feel-good music (old school and current faves) as John’s nightly house party rocks its way through the Fringe.

Beyond his success in Australia with the John Rowe Show, the musician, comedian, actor, presenter, producer and director has created a galaxy of theatre and TV programmes with some of the biggest names in world entertainment – including Disney and Warner Bros.

He is a well-known face on television, whether it’s doing guest spots on variety shows, starring on kids’ TV or hosting televised events like the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras
