The SNP has selected Rob Munn as their candidate to contest the Leith Walk by-election, following a ballot of local members.

The Ward 12 by-election, triggered by the resignation of Labour councillor Marion Donaldson, will be held on Thursday 11 April.

Mr Munn brings a wealth of experience in local government as both a previous Deputy Lord Provost and Deputy Leader SNP Group on The City of Edinburgh Council.  He has worked with former SNP MSP Colin Keir who represented Edinburgh Western and now works with Edinburgh Northern and Leith MSP, Ben Macpherson.

Rob Munn said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have been selected as the SNP candidate for the Leith Walk by-election.

“Now the focus is getting out on the doors to meet the voters and hear about their priorities for the ward.

“I’m determined to win this by-election for the SNP and will work hard to earn the trust of voters – putting their interests first and doing my utmost to ensure they have strong and effective representation in the City Chambers.”

Congratulating Rob on his selection, Edinburgh Council Leader Adam McVey said: “Rob is an outstanding candidate and will make an excellent councillor for Leith Walk.

“He will fight hard for his constituents and make sure their voice is heard loud and clear in the Council.

“He brings a wealth of experience in local government and a track record as a dedicated public servant.

“Rob will help us make a difference, delivering better public services for Leith Walk and for Edinburgh.”
