A new singing postbox has been unveiled today on the Royal Mile, one of only four in the UK.

The box will sing to you once you post a letter or card in it.

The postboxes- a first for the Company – are adorned with beautifully seasonal snowflakes, and respond to post with one of three festive-themed tunes.

These range from the sound of sleigh bells, to a jolly season’s greeting from Father Christmas.

The box will be in place for the whole festive season.

Simon Barker, Operations Director at Royal Mail said: “Delivering Christmas is our absolute priority this December. In the process, we enjoy any way we can add a little extra fun (and festivity!) to posting Christmas cards this year.”

The postbox is here – do let us know what you think of it! We might go and film a video of it…..
