A police investigation is underway after the body of a man was discovered on the playing fields at Myreside Road near to George Watson’s College.

Emergency services attended the scene around 9.40am this morning and established a cordon to allow for forensic examinations.

Officers are treating the death as unexplained at this time but they are not treating it as suspicious.

The school is operating as usual.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police in Edinburgh responded to the Myreside Road area at around 9.40am on Monday 17th September following the discovery of a man’s body.

“The death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious, and inquiries are continuing.”
