Ready to turn their other cheeks to bashfulness the utterly bonkers, and discreetly starkers, The Calendar Girls is to hit town with naked ambition.
This October The Festival Theatre welcomes Gary Barlow and Tim Firth’s award winning musical.
Calendar Girls The Musical is inspired by the true story of a group of ladies, who decide to appear nude for a Women’s Institute calendar in order to raise funds to buy a settee for their local hospital, in memory of one of their husbands, and have to date raised almost £5million for Bloodwise.
This musical comedy shows life in their Yorkshire village, how it happened, the effect on husbands, sons and daughters, and how a group of ordinary ladies achieved something extraordinary.
Original Calendar Girls Angela Baker and Trish Stewart will be chatting at the Festival Theatre in a special pre-show Insight event on Thursday 4 October, 6pm-6.45pm. The event is £2 per ticket, call 0131 529 6000 for tickets, and all proceeds go to Bloodwise. The UK’s specialist blood cancer charity, will continue to receive monies from this production.
The new production stars novelist and television presenter Fern Britton, returning to the stage for the first time in 30 years, together with Ruth Madoc plus a plethora of pouty prima-donna skin-kittens.
