The eye-catching scene on one of the holes at The Renaissance Club

The Renaissance Club in East Lothian will host the Scottish Open in 2019 for the first time.

Aberdeen Standard Investments will sponsor the event from July 8 to 14 and this will be followed by the Ladies Scottish Open from August 5-11.

Jerry Sarvadi, the club’s CEO, said: “We have pledged to continue to support the golf tourism industry in Scotland by targeting additional visiting golfers from around the world.

“Additionally, we will work with VisitScotland and Scottish Golf to support and fund women and junior golf development initiatives and make our practice facilities available to Scottish Golf’s amateur squads during preparation for major events.”

Martin Gilbert, chief executive of Aberdeen Standard Investments, said: “The Renaissance Club’s course is a true test of links golf.”

Meanwhile, the club have started work on two new villa retreats which will be completed by May next year.

They overlook the 14th tee, the Firth of Forth and the neighbouring championship course, Muirfield.
