Along with a rapid expansion of its self storage company, Webster Storage at Bridgend Industrial Estate, Kinross, parent company Webster Developments, run by young entrepreneur Daniel Webster, has announced that it is to build a new eco friendly office HQ at the same location, which will house all of the company’s diverse business interests under one (sedum) roof. This development will also include eco friendly office pods for let, and hives for producing local honey.

Having initially launched in 2014 with twelve self storage units on Kinross High Street, Webster Storage, instantly recognisable with its bright orange livery, grew quickly and moved to the new Industrial site location in July 2017, with some forty six units suitable for both personal and business customers.

Planning permission has been secured for another twenty at the site.

Webster Storage is unique in offering flexible terms, including weekly lets, and gives customers 24/7 access to their property.

Many firms from all over Scotland and the North of England use the storage units as a distribution hub, depositing and collecting stock which is then transported all around the country. The development enjoys a fantastic location, just minutes from the M90 motorway.

Daniel Webster, who also lists a luxury housing division and a local honey company in his portfolio, said :  “I am delighted with how quickly this company has grown, and there is even more potential to grow it further. I expect that the twenty new units will let very swiftly indeed.”

Daniel explained that the move into self storage came about when he was developing property throughout Fife, and customers were starting to ask him about flexible short term storage to house belongings until their new properties were ready.

“There wasn’t much in the area to satisfy this demand and so I started with the twelve units in the High Street, which were quickly full,” he said. “It was then I realised there was also demand for longer lets, and for business customers too, as by this time many local firms had started to contact me, asking for units for longer term use. I decided to go for it and secured the site at Bridgend. I figured that flexible terms to suit customers would be far more desirable than what was available, and so there was no ties to
monthly contracts, as many other companies insisted upon.”

“Bridgend Industrial Estate is the ideal location for the self storage company, as there are so many other businesses all around it, and it offers speedy transport links in and out,” added Daniel. “As I now spend so much time here it also made sense to make this the location for the custom designed, eco friendly head office.”

Continued Daniel: “We’re also adding ten additional eco friendly office pods to the mix, which will be offered to the market for small businesses, entrepreneurs, creative partnerships.. the sky’s the limit.”

To add to the site’s uniqueness Webster will also house a number of beehives on the site which produce his local honey, Webster Honey, another eco friendly and sustainable product. “It’s a seasonal product but when I have it for sale, it is retailed in farm shops and
delis in the area and does very well.”

“It’s true, I don’t think there will be many business hubs quite like this one when it is finished,” said Daniel. “I hope it is inspiring to the occupants who choose to work here, having the bee hive area, the whole development is certainly a bit different. On a personal level, everything is in the one location for me, so I can keep an eye on the storage firm and all other interests as all divisions grow.”

Daniel was quick to remark that he was sure many local people in and around Kinross  – not to mention those noticing as they travel by on the M90-  were wondering what was going on at the site which is to house the eco offices.

“We have bright orange banners – our company colour of course –  plus orange wrapping all round the area with hashtag teasers such as #watchthisspace.”

“It’s all very visible and you can see it from miles around!”

“It’s just to build a bit of excitement as it all starts to take shape, create a buzz if you excuse the pun,” said Daniel. “This is going to be my Head Office so naturally I am very excited about it, and for it to be happening in my home town, creating this new workspace community, well it’s very special indeed.”
