The majority of transfer activity in the capital this summer has been at Tynecastle, but the Hibs’ fans are delighted with the one move secured by the club so far.

Florian Kamberi arrived on loan from Grasshopper Club Zurich in January and made an immediate impact, scoring on his debut then helping the club to European qualification with another eight goals.

His partnership with Jamie MacLaren proved fruitful and the pair were only on the losing side in one league game.

Kamberi is looking forward to Hibs opening game against NSI Runavic and, along with his team mates, he has been doing double training sessions to ensure they are ready.

The Swiss striker also revealed that the opportunity to work with Neil Lennon again was a major factor in his decision to return to Easter Road.

Speaking at the club’s press conference yesterday Kamberi said: “It was my plan to come back. I had a good time here at the club with the gaffer and the team. I like the club and the success of the gaffer. I like working with him.

“He played a big part in my decision. I had a big decision to make but when I know that he is here I am happy.

“He wants you to improve, he is a winner and he wants us to be winners. After the Hearts’ game he was right. we lost the chance for second place. It’s a great pleasure to work with Neil Lennon. It’s good to have a coach who has fire.

“I’m sure the gaffer will make a good and strong team for this season.”

Kamberi also claimed that Hibs are looking to improve on last year but he admits that he is anticipating a tougher campaign with a number of teams improving their squads.

He continued: “The Scottish Premiership is not an easy league. I just want to keep improving and to train hard with the team and look at taking it game by game.

“Hopefully we can finish like last season or better. That’s the goal but it’s too early to speak about what we want. We have to look at our preparation to start our European games well.

“I don’t know anything about NSI Runavic so we will just focus on ourselves. The gaffer will give us some information about them later on but we have to look to ourselves to be ready for the game.

“It would be nice to start the season against Motherwell with a win. when you see the quality in the team, second place is realistic but it’s not easy.  Celtic and Rangers also are strong this season and Aberdeen and Hearts so it will be a tough season but anything is possible. I think it will be harder than last season but of we can win our first two or three games it will be a perfect start. We have to give our best and see what happens.

“We are working hard every day, doing double sessions. The start is not easy but it is very important to make a good start.”
