Former Glasgow Tigers and Edinburgh Monarchs rider Dan Bewley, now with Belle Vue and Workington Comets, has been crowned British under-19 champion.

He scored 15 points and edged Eastbourne rider Tom Brennan by a point with Berwick-based Leon Flint, who rides for Birmingham, third with 11 points after a run-of.

There was action in the championship and Glasgow Tigers earned a point on the road in a six-point defeat at Redcar Bears.

Tigers have a quick chance for revenge when the pair meet in Glasgow on Friday, tapes up 7.30pm.

Earlier, Glasgow edged 22-20 ahead after back-to-back 5-1 scores in Heats six and seven.

But Bears replied in kind with back-to-back 5-1 heat wins in races eight and nine gave the home side a 30-24 cushion and they powered to a 48-42 win.

Jordan Stewart starred at Reserve for the Teeside combine with 16 points from seven races, including four wins.

And next best was Mikkel B Andersen with nine points with former Glasgow and Berwick rider Ben Barker on five.

Ex-Berwick and Edinburgh Monarchs rider Claus Vissing maintained his early-season form to top score for Tigers with 11 points and Richie Worrall and Lewis Kerr both collected ten points each.

Chris Harris was next best on nine points for under-strength Tigers who used rider replacement for crocked Paul Starke.
