Edinburgh Monarchs new rider Matt Williamson will be on familiar shale at Workington Comets on Saturday (7pm).

And he intends passing on some inside track info ahead of the Championship Shield fixture.

Williamson said: “It would be nice if we can go there and win, and I think we can.

“Obviously, a lot of the boys are really experienced and they do know a lot themselves but, as I have had a season at Workington, I can always tell them what I’ve found and offer help if they need it.”

Meanwhile, Glasgow Tigers are also on duty and Chris Harris enjoys riding at Berwick Bandits.

Weather permitting, he’ll get his first run on the fast track on Saturday (7pm).

The Midlands-based racer could prove an ace card for Glasgow Tigers in this Championship Shield clash.

And Harris will face one of his old friends in Bandits star David Howe.

He’s part of the same generation of talented British riders as Harris and the former Grand Prix star, said: “I enjoy the Berwick track.

“I love turn three with that big banking and I’ve had some good meetings there, Grand Prix qualifiers.

“I’ve also been there with Exeter and Trelawny over the years and while guesting.”

On Howe, the 35-year-old said: “I know David very well. He was probably a year or two ahead of me, but we’ve had a lot of battles through the years, down at Newport in Classics, and him riding Wolves and me Coventry.”
