Under-pressure Edinburgh Capitals coach Dmitri Khristich

Three players have walked out on misfiring Elite League ice hockey club Edinburgh Capitals.

Taylor Stefishen and Duncan Speirs, along with defenceman Julius Nyqvist have left the club with immediate effect.

Scott Neil, Capitals’ general manager, confirmed the situation on the club’s website.

And the news comes as Capitals have lost their last six games in the Elite League including Wednesday’s 7-1 defeat at Coventry Blaze.

Capitals play league newcomers Milton Keynes Lightning on Thursday before travelling to league pace-setters Manchester Storm on Saturday and Neil said the club are looking for replacements

He added: “We’ve clearly not made the start to the season we wanted and (coach) Dmitri (Khristich) and I have talked about how we turn things around.

“He is working closely with the squad to get the best out of the players we have and we’ll bring in the right players to help take us forward and improve results on the ice.”
