Hibs’ Head Coach Neil Lennon is happy with his team’s pre season performances ahead of their competitive debut against Montrose on Saturday.

Lennon admits that his squad is thin at the moment but he is hoping to do some business in the transfer market before the league starts against Partick Thistle on 5th August although he delighted with the progress of some of his youngsters.

Lennon told Hibs TV: ” The players are in good condition. We have played really well in the three pre-season games and trained really well.

“We respect our opponents and we want to get off to a good start in the group.I think it will get the player’s juices going.

“We are looking forward to the game. Montrose will come and make life as difficult as possible for us but if we are on our game we should be in for a good day.

“Our squad is thin, there is no question about that, but there is plenty of time left. The league season kicks off on 5th August and we are looking to do some business between now and then.

“We have got some good young players who can handle the first team environment. It doesn’t faze them and they have been around it for a year now and they are progressing very well and I would imagine they will feature in the games as well.”

Lennon also revealed that new signing Efe Ambrose has returned to training albeit a few days later than expected. The defender has been dealing with personal problems and the head coach insists that the matter is closed.

He added: “We were training on Monday  and this is Thursday so he is a couple of days late. We couldn’t get in touch with him because he had left his phone here while he was away.  He had a personal problem to deal with as well but he is back training now. Saturday will be too soon for him but he should be back for the Ross County game.

“He has come back in excellent condition and he is a fantastic athlete. He gave me a full explanation so that’s the matter closed.
