Aaron Summers aims to close the gap on SGB Championship pace-setters Edinburgh Monarchs with a win over Sheffield Tigers on Saturday.

But he warned his Glasgow Tigers team-mates to get ready for a catfight with the ambitious Yorkshire side.

The Ashfield club’s skipper revealed that Sunday’s 55-37 misfire at Peterborough Panthers had left him desperate to get Glasgow’s SGB Championship bid firing again.

Former Glasgow favourite Josh Grajczonek, Team Great Britain prospect Kyle Howarth and Danish star Lasse Bjerre could stand in their way in Saturday’s key clash (tapes-up 7pm).

But there is a big incentive for the Scots. Victory could trim the gap between third-placed Glasgow and pace-setting Edinburgh Monarchs to two points and Glasgow would have three matches in hand.

The 29-year-old from Adelaide, who is a former Edinburgh Monarchs rider, hopes to see another packed stadium after nearly 2,000 people witnessed last week’s win against Ipswich Witches thanks to a bring a buddy initiative.

The Aussie-born star vowed: “”Apart from Sunday we can’t complain about any of our performances and we’ve picked up points every time.

“Sheffield are one of the top teams in the league but, given what happened to us this Sunday, the boys will come back fighting.”
