Hibs new signing Danny Swanson is looking forward to playing for his boyhood idols next season after joining the club on a pre-contract agreement from St Johnstone.

The 30-year-old attacking midfielder insists that he has always wanted to play for the club having attended his first game aged 20 DAYS.

Swanson was officially unveiled yesterday at Easter Road and afterwards told Hibs TV: “It’s amazing and I’ve been looking forward to it for a while. It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do, and I’m delighted to be joining.

“I tried not to listen to the rumours because it’s happened so many times so it was only after meeting the manager that it sunk in that it was finally going to happen.

“I was very impressed with what the manager had to say. He is a very passionate man as everybody knows. He is a winner and I want to win as well.

“He will have his plans for me but I just hope that I get a chance to play and show the fans what I can do as I really want to play for this club.

“I feel as if this is my club and Leith is my place so to go out there and put the jersey on in front of my friends and fellow Hibees  is something I just can’t wait to do.

“My mum first brought me to Easter Road when I was something like 20 days old then I used to go regularly. the Athens game sticks out for me as well as the 6-2 game when we beat Hearts.

“I loved watching Russell Latapy play. He was a great player and I also admired Derek Riordan.

“I saw that over 11,000 season tickets have been sold, which is remarkable. Hopefully next season we can get more through the gates and I’ll try to get them up off their seats. That’s the way I try to play the game.

“I’ll not hide if I’m having a bad game or just kick the ball the way I’m facing – I’ll take it, be brave and try to make things happen. I just can’t wait to score one day for this team.”
