Braehead Clan boss Gareth Chalmers has confirmed that new player signings are imminent despite not having a coach.

Nearly 50 applications from top coaches from Europe, North America and the UK have been received following the dismissal of Ryan Finnerty but Chalmers, the clubā€™s hockey and operations director, said they will take their time.

He confirmed that player signings are imminent but said that highly-rated netminder Michal Zajkowski is leaving the Scottish Elite League club to join his hometown team, Ɩrnskƶldsvik, in Sweden.

Chalmers said: “We’re spending time doing our homework on each coach to ensure we’re looking at the right candidates.

“Negotiations with a number of players are close to being finalised and we’ll be in a position soon to start confirming the exciting new roster.”
