Police are appealing for information in order to trace a 30-year-old woman who is missing from the Morningside area.

Gemma Whitelaw was last seen around 4.20pm yesterday in the Morningside area walking up Morningside Road towards Bruntsfield before being lost to sight.

She has not been seen since and officers are now growing concerned for Gemma’s welfare.

Gemma is described as a white woman with a medium build.  She is around 5ft 6″ in height and has long dark brown hair, which is usually worn in a ponytail.

She was last seen wearing a black jacket, black trousers and black boots.  She was also carrying a black bag.

Inspector David Tench of Howdenhall Police Station said:  “Gemma has now been missing for some time and we are eager to trace her whereabouts as soon as possible.

“I would ask anyone who has seen Gemma, or recognise her description, to get in touch we police immediately.”

Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101.
