Ryan Finnerty warned his Braehead Clan squad not to take their foot off the pedal for their double-header with Edinburgh Capitals.

Edinburgh can’t qualify for the play-offs and Clan have already booked their slot but Finnerty said: “Going into the mindset of thinking these games are dead rubbers is dangerous.

“Whenever you develop that mentality, that’s when bad habits are formed and injuries can happen.”

The first game is at Braehead tonight Saturday (7pm) with the return at Murrayfield on Sunday (6pm) and the coach said: “We want to make sure we’re playing at our best and building for the play-offs.”

And he added: “After winning the (Gardiner) Conference, perhaps we’ve gone away from what makes us successful and dropped a couple of games.”

Finnerty added: “Who we end up playing in the quarter-finals is outwith our control. We’ll be ready to go, but we’re focusing on the two games and we’ve a lot of respect for Edinburgh. After that, we’ll focus on the play-offs.”
